Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson attended their first Met Gala as a couple at tonight’s annual event and what an event for the fledgling couple.Lest we forget that this same event is where they first met last year, at 2021’s delayed Met Gala the night where Kim arrived donned in a head to toe black garment obscuring her entire face, and yet still somehow managed to make in-roads with her now-boyfriend Pete.
While it was previously believed that Pete and Kim first met at Pete’s stomping ground of the Saturday Night Live show, Kim recently revealed during a podcast interview that the couple had in fact had their first encounter at the glitzy event where comically Kim was unable to exchange numbers with Pete due to wearing her bonkers costume.
The couple are said to have been dating since October 2021, after they reignited their attraction to one another on SNL . Then, in February 2022, Pete publicly referred to Kim as his girlfriend for the first time.
Anyway, this isn’t the couple’s big event debut – they got that out of the way last weekend, at the the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C. They have also been through a fair few milestones as a couple recently, including Kim sharing two cute PDA posts of her and Pete on her Instagram account, and a string of public date nights.
However, for the reasons we’ve mentioned, this appearance is still a pretty big deal for the couple, as the site of their, well, meet-iversary. Rumours proved true for Kim’s look fans had been speculating that she’d rock up in a sheer, glittering dress previously owned by Marilyn Monroe, which the late starlet wore while singing a sultry ‘Happy Birthday, Mr President’ to President John F Kennedy in 1962.
Lo and behold, Kim did deliver. It was clear from the moment she turned up on that red velvet carpet that she was wearing the famous gown. And it sounds like it was one hell of an effort to rock this famous sartorial choice.
In her interview, she said, “Yes, well, this is Marilyn Monroe’s dress, it’s 60 years old… I had this idea to put it on and try it on and it came with armed guards and gloves, I tried it on and it didn’t fit me. And I looked at them and I said give me three weeks, I had to lose 16 pounds down today to be able to fit this, it was such a challenge, it was like a role, I was determined to fit it. I don’t think they believed that I was going to do it.”
