The First Shadow delves into the backstory of Hawkins, Indiana, long before Eleven and her friends enter the Upside Down. Set in 1959, the play introduces us to a seemingly ordinary town grappling with everyday challenges. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister dismisses his radio ambitions, and Joyce Maldonado is eager to escape her small-town life. But when the enigmatic new student Henry Creel arrives, the community soon learns that starting over isn’t so simple—and the shadows of the past loom large.
Written by Stranger Things scribe Kate Trefry, the play is based on an original story by the Duffer Brothers and Jack Thorne, ensuring a compelling narrative that fans won’t want to miss.
