Los Angeles, CA – Rapper Swae Lee has sparked controversy after posting a series of critical messages about Vice President Kamala Harris, urging his followers to reconsider voting for her in the upcoming presidential election. Harris, who has been nominated as the Democratic candidate for President, faces a contentious race against former President Donald Trump.

In his recent posts on X (formerly Twitter), the 31-year-old rapper questioned Harris’s suitability for the presidency. Swae Lee wrote, “Do not vote for Kamala!!! Do your research on that whole [campaign].” He also expressed frustration with President Joe Biden’s administration, criticizing Biden’s decision to allocate funds to Ukraine amidst its ongoing conflict with Russia. “I pay over millions in tax dollars every year this man sent it to a whole nother country!!!!!!!! Those lil dollars that come off your checks they gave it away!!!!!!! Think about that s**t,” he said, referring to the Biden administration’s foreign aid spending.

Swae Lee further criticized the Biden administration’s domestic policies, suggesting that the money could have been used to directly benefit American citizens. “I guess we don’t need the s**t,” he added. He also targeted Kamala Harris specifically, accusing her of failing to support the Black community. “And y’all standing for Kamala. My Black people, she don’t do nothing but sign off on things against y’all … (us). Voting just ‘cause you think she’s Black is not going to end in your favor,” he wrote.

The rapper’s comments have been met with significant backlash from netizens. On X, users reacted strongly against his posts. One user commented, “Yuck, immediately unfollowed,” while another asked, “U want a dictatorship?” Others questioned the validity of Swae Lee’s information and motives. “Do your research ‘cause you probably got bad information,” one user wrote. Another noted, “I did! This is why I am voting for her! By the way, it is Vice President Kamala Harris,” and suggested that Swae Lee’s comments might be influenced by Trump’s campaign, adding, “Music not selling?”

The backlash also included a user telling Swae Lee to “leave the country” and others criticizing his sudden expertise on foreign policy and politics. “Now all of a sudden everyone is an expert at foreign policy and politics,” remarked another commentator.

Swae Lee’s posts have highlighted the complex and often polarizing nature of political discourse, especially as the U.S. approaches a pivotal presidential election. The rapper’s call for his followers to scrutinize Harris’s campaign has intensified discussions about the efficacy of current political leadership and the influence of public figures on the electoral process.
