Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has apologized to the country over the sexual harassment cases in Parliament. In 2019, Brittany Higgins, a former Parliamentarian, was raped by an aide in the Defense Minister’s office. The matter was discussed all over the world. For this, three inquiry committees were formed. It has now been proven that Higgins’ allegations were true. Morrison apologized in front of everyone and cameras in Parliament. Higgins himself was also present during this. He bowed his head after listening to Morrison.
Higgins showed the courage
Higgins was raped in 2019. After a year, she herself gathered courage and came in front of the country and the world. Also told the committee of Parliament what and how had happened. After this, three committees were formed for the investigation. So far only one report has come out and it has confirmed Higgins’ allegations. Prime Minister Scott Morrison himself made a statement on the matter in Parliament on Tuesday.
Morrison said- I apologize to Higgins. A very heinous crime had happened to him at this place. I am even more embarrassed because some other similar incidents had happened before. Now we have to change this attitude, this culture and we are doing this work very fast.
When Higgins’ case of ‘Culture of Silence’
came to the fore and he complained to his boss, he was asked to keep quiet as elections were about to take place in the country at that time. Higgins said- In the politics of our country, such cases are suppressed in the name of culture of silence.
During the speech, Higgins was accompanied by three other women who have been employees of Parliament and who had faced sexual violence here. Higgins will speak to the media on Wednesday at the National Press Club. So far, the name of the employee who raped Higgins has not been made public.
What is the matter
In 2019, Higgins came to a party in the Parliament. Here he drank wine with the rest of the people. She says- A friend of mine offered me to leave the house. But, instead of dropping me from my house, that person took me to the Parliament House. Here he raped me in the Defense Minister’s chamber. I sensed something. Tried to stop him, but failed.
Britney has not yet made public the name of the person who raped her. However, it must be said that that person is a rising politician of the Liberal Party.
