In the United Arab Emirates, a couple has created a stir by getting divorced within just a day of marriage. Actually, in this Muslim country, this is the record of breaking the marriage in the shortest time. According to local media, the Ministry of Justice of the UAE has released data on divorces in the UAE last year. It has been revealed from these that in the year 2021, 648 cases of divorce were registered in UAE. The shortest marriage of these was of one day.  Another new thing emerged from the divorce statistics in the UAE. It has been told that out of the number of divorce cases in 2021, the longest marriage lasted for 47 years. However, the couple who separated was not a native of the UAE. According to the information, 311 divorce cases were of the people of this country only. However, 194 cases were of foreigners. Fifteen talaq cases were between a female citizen of the UAE and a foreign national.

Federal courts register these divorces in the emirates of Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. According to the Ministry of Justice, the total number of marriages registered in these cities in 2021 was 4,542. Officials said that some of these marriages lasted from one day to 15 days as the couples filed for divorce for different reasons even before the completion of a month of marriage.

What is the reason for the breakdown of marriages in UAE?
Family counselors and psychologists have given many reasons for the breakdown of marriages in the UAE. One of the major reasons for this is cheating on the partner or extra marital affair. Apart from this, lack of commitment to marriage, lack of communication, physical abuse or abuse, social media, refusal of one of the spouses to fulfill responsibilities and unfulfilled expectations.

Dr. Dolly Hubble, a clinical psychologist working with Advance Cure, told Khaleej Times about marriages falling apart quickly, that a lack of commitment to marriage and responsibility leads to divorce in many marriages. Hut people prepare for the wedding day, not for the wedding. When partners are not devoted to each other, they may fail to maintain their relationship.”
