Chamberlain emphasized that sustaining this level of performance is crucial for City if they hope to contend for the title. “It can’t be a one-off performance; it needs to be maintained week in, week out.”
Barcelona manager Pere Sunyer acknowledged City’s strong approach but noted his players found it difficult to cope with their pressing. “Manchester City showed their quality in the first half,” he said. While Barcelona remains a favorite to defend their title, Sunyer recognizes the need for improvement moving forward.
BBC Radio 5 Live commentator Vicki Sparks remarked on Barcelona’s unusual rattled state, pointing out that this was only the second time in 80 matches they had failed to score, the previous instance being a defeat to Chelsea last season.
