Oscar-nominated singer-songwriter Björk has revealed her new concert film, Cornucopia, during Climate Week, emphasizing her commitment to addressing climate issues. As the creative director of the project, Björk aims to showcase her activism through a live performance filmed in Lisbon, Portugal.
The film highlights her recent collaboration with Rosalía on the song “Oral,” with all proceeds dedicated to funding legal actions against intensive fishing practices. The announcement was made by Level Forward at their Soho House residency.
In her own words, Björk articulated her vision for the project:
“it is an emergency in order to survive as a species we need to define our utopia the Paris climate accord is a modern utopia impossible to imagine but overcoming our environmental challenges is the only way we have to imagine something that doesn’t exist carve intentionally into the future and demand space for hope weave a matriarchal dome let’s imagine a world where nature and technology collaborate and make a song about it a musical mockup then move into it let’s write music for our destination in mythologies around the world after a disaster one captures the spirit with a flute and starts anew carved out of the first fauna we arrive on a new island with mutant species unknown hybrids of birds and plants our past is on loop, turn it off let’s be intentional about the light imagine a future, be in it.”
Details regarding the film’s release will be announced later this year. Cornucopia is produced by Snowstorm, S101, Level Forward, and Foobar.
Level Forward is dedicated to producing impactful narratives and engaging in meaningful conversations. Their portfolio includes acclaimed projects such as Red, White and Blue, The Assistant, and Jagged Little Pill.
Björk received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song in 2001 for “I’ve Seen It All” from Dancer in the Dark, where she also won Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival.
