Travis Scott is making waves in the music industry as his decade-old mixtape, “Days Before Rodeo,” skyrockets from No. 106 to the top of the Billboard 200 chart. This remarkable surge follows its re-release on streaming services nearly a month ago.

Originally launched for free on August 18, 2014, the mixtape amassed 156,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. after its pre-ordered vinyl editions were shipped. A staggering 149,000 of these units were attributed to vinyl sales from Scott’s webstore, making it the top-selling album of the week and marking the biggest week for vinyl sales for a rap album since Luminate began tracking in 1991. Additionally, it achieves the sixth-largest week for vinyl across all genres.

“Days Before Rodeo” also boasts the largest jump to No. 1 since Tyler, the Creator’s “Call Me If You Get Lost” climbed from No. 120 to No. 1 in 2022 after its vinyl release. This week’s chart surge can be largely credited to pre-orders, with fans purchasing standard and deluxe vinyl variants, box sets, and Fan Packs. Upon its digital release on August 23, the mixtape debuted at No. 2 with 361,000 units, primarily driven by digital downloads.

This resurgence pushes Sabrina Carpenter’s “Short N’ Sweet” to No. 2 after a three-week reign at the top, earning 108,000 equivalent album units while maintaining the No. 1 spot on the Top Streaming Albums chart for a fourth week. Chappell Roan’s “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess” holds at No. 3 with 64,000 equivalent album units, followed by Post Malone’s “F-1 Trillion” and Morgan Wallen’s “One Thing at a Time” at No. 4 and 5, respectively.

Rounding out the top 10 are Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department,” Eminem’s “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce),” Billie Eilish’s “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season,” and Zach Bryan’s “The Great American Bar Scene.”
