Yang Hye Ji and Choi Tae Joon recently opened up about their roles and experiences on the set of the upcoming drama “Iron Family,” a dark comedy from renowned screenwriter Seo Sook Hyang, known for hits like “Pasta,” “Jealousy Incarnate,” and “Wok of Love.”
The drama revolves around a family that has been running a laundry business for three generations. Choi Tae Joon stars as Cha Tae Woong, a part-time worker at Cheongryeom Laundry, while Yang Hye Ji takes on the role of Lee Cha Rim, the second daughter of the family. Their characters share a unique and complicated relationship, with Tae Woong expressing his feelings for Cha Rim, who does not reciprocate, creating a dynamic push-and-pull that adds depth to the narrative.
Choi Tae Joon expressed his enthusiasm about collaborating with writer Seo Sook Hyang and director Sung Jun Hae, saying, “I have always admired Seo Sook Hyang’s work. It’s an honor to be part of a drama written by her. I eagerly anticipate each script.” He also praised the director for creating a vibrant and supportive atmosphere on set, which enhances his performance. “Tae Woong is a multifaceted character with a complex background. I’ve grown a lot through this role,” he added.
Choi Tae Joon also spoke highly of his co-stars, noting the strong chemistry he shares with Geum Sae Rok and Yang Hye Ji. “I feel like I’ve gained two younger siblings through this role. Working with them has been a joy,” he said.
Yang Hye Ji described her character, Cha Rim, as having a “cold exterior but an innocent charm” and mentioned her efforts to differentiate her portrayal based on her scene partners. She also expressed her delight in reuniting with actress Park Ji Young, who plays her mother in the drama. “It’s wonderful to call her ‘mom’ after working with her on ‘Revenant,’” Yang Hye Ji shared. “She’s a senior actress who offers invaluable guidance, and I’m learning a lot from her.”
