Gwyneth Paltrow is set to make a comeback to the big screen, joining Timothée Chalamet in Josh Safdie’s upcoming film “Marty Supreme.” This marks Paltrow’s first movie role since her appearance in “Avengers: Endgame” in 2019.
Details about Paltrow’s character remain undisclosed. The film’s plot is shrouded in secrecy, with studio A24 teasing an image of a table tennis ball and the phrase “coming soon” following the project’s announcement by Variety in July.
Paltrow, an Oscar winner renowned for her roles in “Shakespeare in Love,” “Sliding Doors,” and “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” has been largely focused on her lifestyle brand Goop and her activism work, including her involvement in the #MeToo movement. Although she voiced an uncredited role in the 2022 film “She Said,” “Marty Supreme” will mark her return to a prominent on-screen role.
The film, with an original screenplay by Safdie and Ronald Bronstein, is produced by Safdie, Bronstein, Eli Bush, Anthony Katagas, and Chalamet. This project is Safdie’s first solo directorial effort since 2008, following his acclaimed works “Uncut Gems” and “Good Time” with his brother Benny Safdie. Safdie is also involved in other projects, including a comedy special for Netflix and a film centered around sports memorabilia and baseball.
