“What appears to you as two players on the podium, were three! It was me, my competitor, & my yet-to-come-to-our world, baby!” she wrote alongside photos taken after her first-round match, where she triumphed over American fencer Elizabeth Tartakovsky with a score of 15-13. Her victory allowed her to advance to the Round of 16, marking a significant achievement in her Olympic journey.
In her heartfelt post, Hafez acknowledged the physical and emotional challenges that accompany pregnancy. “The rollercoaster of pregnancy is tough on its own, but having to fight to keep the balance of life and sports was nothing short of strenuous, however worth it,” she shared. “This specific Olympics was different; three-time Olympian but this time carrying a little Olympian one!” she added, highlighting the uniqueness of her current experience.
