A significant change has been made to the maternity leave policy for England’s female football players. After this the players will get 14 weeks off from the next season with regular pay and additional allowances. The England Football Association said that players playing in the Women’s Super League and Women’s Championship will get these facilities. Earlier it was up to the club how much leave they wanted to give and it was also mandatory for the player to have played at least 26 weeks with the club. But now there is no such compulsion under the new policy. Not only this, the coverage in case of injury and illness under the agreement will also be higher.
Chelsea manager Emma Hayes said: “This is another step in the right direction. This should be applicable not only in England but all over the world.
