In a new commentary on the fractured relationship between Prince Harry and the British Royal Family, Paul Burrell, Princess Diana’s former butler, has claimed that reconciliation is now impossible. According to Burrell, the Duke of Sussex has irreparably damaged the trust between himself and the Royals, leaving “no room for any reconciliation.”
Burrell, speaking to Slingo, expressed his dismay at the situation, stating, “There is no room for any reconciliation now; they just don’t trust him. He’s worn away all the trust that they had in him.” The former butler criticized Harry’s tell-all projects and public disclosures, suggesting they have made it untenable for the Royal Family to reaccept him.
Burrell highlighted concerns about Harry’s transparency, noting that if he were to be invited back into the Royal fold, there would be fears of his discussions with Meghan Markle reaching the public. “They can’t invite him back into the fold because they know that when he gets back to America, he’ll tell Meghan everything, and then the rest of the world will know exactly what’s happening,” he said.
The former butler lamented the situation, pointing out that Harry’s estrangement is a source of sadness and suggesting that if Princess Diana were alive, the family’s situation might have been different. “It’s very sad. If his mother was alive, it just would not be happening,” Burrell reflected.
Burrell also weighed in on the Sussexes’ ongoing public and personal battles, including their criticism of Prince William and Kate Middleton. He noted that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have increasingly distanced themselves from the Royal Family, which he believes has negatively impacted their public image. “Meghan and Harry have divorced themselves from the brand, which is the Royal Family. They’ve downgraded themselves,” he asserted.
The former butler emphasized the contrast between Harry and Meghan’s brand and that of William and Kate. “To be associated with Meghan and Harry isn’t the best thing, and people would rather be associated with William and Kate, who stand for truth, duty, and loyalty to the country,” Burrell said.
Recent reports suggest that the Sussexes’ strained relationships extend beyond the Royal Family to their social circles. Burrell mentioned the Sussexes’ difficulties with high-profile figures like Victoria and David Beckham, who remain close to the Royal Family. “The true A-listers, who move in those circles, realize that Harry and Meghan’s brand isn’t as popular or as valuable as the real Royal brand,” he noted.
As Harry and Meghan continue to build their brand in Hollywood through various projects and media ventures, Burrell’s comments underscore the ongoing tension and the significant impact of their decisions on their relationship with the Royal Family.
