After the attack on Ukraine, Russia has opened a front against the European country. Russia has closed its airspace to 36 countries. Earlier these countries had closed their airspace to all Russian aircraft.

In the midst of the war between Ukraine and Russia, at the emergency meeting of the United Nations General Assembly, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that the war should stop at all costs. He said that the increase in military operations by Russia in Ukraine has increased human rights violations.

Guterres vents anger on Russia

He said that putting the Russian nuclear forces on high alert is a hair-raising step and nuclear war cannot even be imagined. He expressed hope that the talks between Ukraine and Russia would result in a fruitful outcome in the form of stopping the fighting. “We are facing a tragedy for Ukraine, as well as a major regional crisis with potentially devastating effects on all of us,” Guterres said.

UN human rights chief Michelle Bachelet says 102 civilians, including seven Ukrainian children, have been killed and 304 others have been injured in the fighting since Thursday. Citing UN figures, he said that more than 4.20 lakh people have left the country in the last few days. Bachelet said on Monday that most civilian deaths were caused by explosions, including artillery fire, rockets and airstrikes.

16 children died in Ukraine

In the emergency meeting of the UNGA, the representative of Ukraine said that 352 people, including 16 children, have died in Ukraine. At the same time, he claims that the death toll is increasing continuously because the shelling from Russia is still going on. On the other hand, the President of Ukraine has said that 16 children of Ukraine have died in Russia’s attack. President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video message on Monday, “Every crime, shelling, committed by the occupiers draws our partners and us even closer.”

Appreciating the sanctions imposed by the West on Russia, he said that the Russian currency has fallen due to these. Zelensky said that Ukraine should immediately get EU membership. He claimed that more than 4,500 Russian soldiers were killed. He called on Russian soldiers to lay down their arms and leave. The President of Ukraine said, ‘Don’t trust the commanders, don’t trust your propaganda, just save your life.’

Russia presented this clarification

Russia claims that the Russian military has not targeted populated areas in Ukraine, although there is evidence that Russian attacks destroyed residential buildings, schools and hospitals. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov alleged on Monday that civilians were killed by members of right-wing Ukrainian nationalist groups using civilians as shields and deploying military equipment in populated areas.
