US Calls Russian Moves Invasion: Putin’s recent action on Ukraine is being considered a violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty. On Tuesday, the United Nations condemned Putin’s decision. The US has also announced tough financial sanctions against Russian banks and oligarchs.

The White House has now termed this move of Russia as an ‘invasion’, referring to the deployment of Russian troops in eastern Ukraine. The US has been hesitant to use the term at the start of the Ukraine crisis. At the same time, President Joe Biden has said that as a result of this move, America can further tighten sanctions on Russia.

Earlier on Tuesday, leaders of several Western countries said that Russian troops had entered the areas after Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the independence of rebel-controlled areas of eastern Ukraine. But some leaders indicated that this did not equate to a full-fledged invasion of Ukraine. However, the White House has indicated a change in its stance.

US Deputy National Security Adviser John Finer, who is using the word ‘aggression’
, said, ‘We believe this is the beginning of the attack. The beginning of a new offensive on Ukraine from Russia. A US official said on condition of anonymity that the White House has started calling Russia’s action an “aggression” given the situation on the ground. Biden announced economic sanctions on Russia, saying sanctions would be tightened if Putin took any further steps.
