The avenues of diplomatic solution are still open on the Ukraine dispute and it can be said that the hopes of peace are still intact. Two important developments took place on Sunday. First- Statement to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in which he clearly stated that President Biden wants to find a solution to the Ukraine dispute through talks with the President of Russia. Second- French President Emmanuel Macron spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin for about one and a half hours.
The good side of the second case is that Macron and Putin agreed that tensions over the Ukraine dispute should now be de-escalated. If Putin sticks to this point, then it is obvious that very soon his talks with Joe Biden will also be possible.
America wants peace
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken attended a program on CNN. Said- We still think that Putin has made up his mind to attack Ukraine. Their tanks are ready, jet fighters are in the air. What more proof do you need? As far as we are concerned, we understand the value of every minute and want to use it. Diplomacy can solve these issues. On February 12, Biden spoke to Putin for an hour. Our President still wants to talk to the Russian President. Crimea was invaded from Belarus in 2014 because of a government allegedly sided with Russia. Now this cannot happen.
People from Eastern Ukraine are reaching Russia for asylum through various means.
Talks between Putin and Macron
Here, another important conversation took place to reduce tension. French President Emmanuel Macron spoke with Putin on the phone for 105 minutes on Sunday. For Macron, this is the time of domestic politics, because there are going to be presidential elections in April. Despite this, they are working day and night to resolve the Ukraine dispute. A statement was issued from Macron’s office after talks with Putin. It said – both the leaders have agreed to reduce the tension in Ukraine. It was agreed to end the domestic and external disputes, especially in eastern Ukraine, first. War should be avoided at all costs. This is absolutely possible with Diplomacy.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed displeasure over the attitude of the US and NATO.
Zelensky, upset with the stand of the US and NATO, suggests
that all is not well between them, a statement by the President of Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that his allies are not taking sanctions-like measures against Russia, waiting for Russia to attack Ukraine.
Zelensky’s statement is aimed directly at the Joe Biden administration. America is saying every day that Russia can attack Ukraine at any time, but it is not able to take tough decisions to rein in Russia. This is what Zelensky’s statement was about. He said – what are you waiting for now? When our economy is over, when many parts of our country will be occupied by the enemy, then if you impose sanctions, then what will they be of use to us? Zelensky made this statement during a security conference in Munich.
