Tensions have deepened in the relations between Pakistan and the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.

Pakistan’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Moeed Yusuf on Thursday made very serious allegations against Afghanistan. Appearing before the Standing Committee of Parliament, Moeed clearly said – Our country is being attacked continuously from the soil of Afghanistan. There are safe havens of our enemy Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan ie TTP. His roots are very deep and the number of people supporting him in Pakistan is not less.

The meaning of this statement is very important
, tension has been going on between Pakistan and Afghanistan for almost two months. Pakistan alleges that the Taliban are not allowing its soldiers to install barbed wire fencing on the border. Not only this, the Taliban uprooted it in many places through fencing bulldozers. There are also reports of clashes and firing between the Afghan Taliban and Pakistani troops over the issue.
Moeed Yusuf was about to go to Kabul last week to discuss all the issues. He had also sat in the aircraft, but only then came the news that thousands of Afghan citizens had gathered outside Kabul airport to protest. Yusuf had to cancel the tour.

After this TTP made blasts in Islamabad and Lahore. Pakistan’s security agencies attributed this to the support of the Afghan Taliban to the TTP. The tension escalated rapidly.

Moeed Yusuf holds dual citizenship. Apart from Pakistan, he is also a US citizen.

Why Yousuf appeared before the Standing Committee The Standing Committee of the
Pakistani Parliament had sought information from Yusuf on the latest situation in national security. This committee keeps an eye on foreign affairs. Yusuf himself said on social media that he had appeared before the parliamentary committee.

During the briefing, Yusuf told the committee – not much hope should be placed on the attitude of the current Taliban government in Afghanistan. I myself am not ready to trust them much. The Afghan Taliban had promised that their land would not be used against other countries, but they did not. Pakistan is being attacked from there. There are safe havens of Pakistan Taliban i.e. TTP. Other terrorist organizations are also active.

During the
briefing, Yusuf also informed the members about the recently released ‘National Security Policy’. He said- Work on this was started in 2014. Then Sartaj Ajit was looking into the matter. This policy has been prepared after seven years of hard work. In this, priority has been given to economic security. Without it it is difficult to defend the country. Only a very small part of it has been brought to the public, the rest of the document is secret.
