Former President Donald Trump recently recounted an intriguing offer he made to President Joe Biden during a rally in St. Cloud, Minnesota. According to Trump, he proposed a challenge to Biden: if Biden could break 100 in a round of golf, Trump would reward him with $1 million. Trump claimed that Biden declined the initial offer.
Trump further detailed that he adjusted his proposal, offering Biden a chance to win $1 million if he could beat Trump while receiving a ten-stroke advantage. Trump suggested that Biden, despite the generous terms, would still have had little chance of winning. “They talk a good game, but it’s all talk,” Trump remarked, referring to Biden’s golfing skills.
This revelation comes amid ongoing debates about their golfing prowess. During their first presidential debate in June, Trump boasted of his golfing achievements, including two club championships and two regular titles, suggesting that these accomplishments required significant skill and intelligence. He also challenged Biden’s golfing capabilities, stating, “He can’t hit a ball 50 yards.”
In response, Biden proposed a driving contest and mentioned that his handicap had once been a six while he was vice president. He also suggested that Trump carry his own golf bag if they were to play. Trump dismissed Biden’s claims as exaggerations, labeling them as “lies” and downplaying Biden’s golfing abilities.
Biden later adjusted his handicap claim to an eight, but Trump remained skeptical, asserting that Biden’s golfing skills did not meet the standards he had described.
