The first trailer for “The Monkey,” a chilling horror film based on Stephen King’s short story, has just been unveiled, sending shivers down fans’ spines. Directed by Osgood Perkins, known for his work on “Longlegs,” this supernatural thriller stars Theo James, recognized for his role in “The White Lotus,” as twin brothers Hal and Bill.

Joining James in this star-studded cast are Tatiana Maslany from “She-Hulk,” Elijah Wood of “The Lord of the Rings,” Laura Mennell (“Batwoman”), Christian Convery (“Sweet Tooth”), Sarah Levy (“Schitt’s Creek”), Rohan Campbell (“The Hardy Boys”), Colin O’Brien (“Dear Edward”), and Corin Clark (“Upload”).

The plot thickens when Bill and Hal stumble upon their father’s eerie monkey toy in the attic, sparking a series of gruesome deaths. As tension escalates, the brothers decide to dispose of the cursed toy, leading them down a dark path that threatens to tear them apart over the years.

The teaser trailer hints at the horror to come, showcasing a shadowy, menacing monkey poised to play a drum set in front of a bloodied Theo James. The suspense builds as he removes his glasses, revealing the film’s title just before a close-up of the creature’s sharp teeth fades to black.

Osgood Perkins, who previously directed the haunting “Gretel & Hansel,” also penned the screenplay for “The Monkey.” The film is produced by a powerhouse team including James Wan, known for iconic franchises like “Saw” and “The Conjuring,” alongside Michael Clear, Dave Caplan, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Chris Ferguson.

After a competitive bidding war for domestic rights at the Marché du Film in May, Neon will distribute the film, which is set to hit theaters on February 21, 2025.
