Alongside Grande and Erivo, the film boasts an impressive ensemble:

Behind the Scenes
Jon M. Chu stepped in as director after Stephen Daldry exited the project in October 2020. The screenplay is penned by Winnie Holzman, who adapted the stage musical from Gregory Maguire’s novel, with music by Stephen Schwartz. Producers include Marc Platt and David Stone, ensuring a strong connection to the original musical.
What’s the Story?
Wicked is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, exploring the complex friendship between Glinda and Elphaba, the journey of Elphaba becoming the Wicked Witch of the West, and how both characters navigate the magical land of Oz before Dorothy’s arrival.

Fans can look forward to the first part of the film’s soundtrack dropping on November 22, coinciding with the movie’s release. Universal has already teased audiences with two trailers—a first-look in February and a more detailed clip featuring Jonathan Bailey as Prince Fiyero in May.
