Angel Studios has officially set the release date for its upcoming film, Brave The Dark, which will hit theaters on January 24, 2025, across a minimum of 1,000 screens.
Directed by Damian Harris, the film is based on a true story and follows Stan Deen, a small-town drama teacher in the 1980s, portrayed by BAFTA winner Jared Harris. The plot revolves around Deen’s journey as he becomes intertwined with the mysterious past of his student Nathan, played by Nicholas Hamilton, who finds himself arrested outside the classroom.
Driven by a steadfast belief that no student is beyond saving, Deen seeks to connect with Nathan, who lives alone in his car and harbors deep secrets. This evolving relationship will challenge Deen’s convictions and lead to a transformative experience for both characters. Nathaniel Deen, the co-writer and inspiration for the film, expressed that this story is not just his own but also a tribute to his mentor, saying, “We are honored to link arms with Angel Studios, so Brave The Dark and Stan’s legacy can shine brightly on the world stage.” Notably, Nathaniel took on Stan Deen’s last name in honor of their bond.
The cast also features Jamie Harris, Sasha Bhasin, Will Edward Price, and Kimberly Fairbanks. The screenplay is co-written by Dale G. Bradley, Lynn Robertson-Hay, Nathaniel Deen, John P. Spencer, and Damian Harris.
