Episode 2 of “The Penguin” attracted 1.6 million viewers on HBO and Max this past Sunday, marking a 17% increase from the series premiere on September 19. Warner Bros. Discovery initially reported 5.3 million viewers for the premiere after four days across various platforms, indicating that about 1.3 million viewers tuned in on the first night. The premiere aired on a Thursday, while Episode 2 settled into its regular Sunday night slot.
After 11 days, Episode 1 reached 10.4 million viewers, placing “The Penguin” among the most-watched current HBO series, trailing only behind “House of the Dragon” and “The Last of Us.”
The series marks the first new project from DC Studios under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran, although it was developed prior to their appointment. Lauren LeFranc serves as the showrunner and executive producer alongside Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, and others, with production by 6th & Idaho Productions and DC Studios.
