The horror franchise that keeps us on the edge of our seats is back! “Scream 7” is officially scheduled to haunt theaters on February 27, 2026, after navigating a maze of production delays and behind-the-scenes drama. The exciting announcement came from Neve Campbell, who will reprise her iconic role after missing out on the last film due to a salary dispute, alongside series creator Kevin Williamson stepping into the director’s chair.

This time around, “Scream 7” enjoys a clear release date with no major competitors on the calendar, making it the sole film debuting that weekend. However, family-friendly flicks like “The Cat in the Hat” and Disney and Pixar’s “Hoppers” are slated to hit screens the following week.

But it hasn’t been all smooth sailing for the latest installment. Melissa Barrera, who starred in the previous two films, was let go over her comments about the Israel-Hamas conflict. Jenna Ortega, Barrera’s co-star, had to bow out due to scheduling conflicts with her Netflix series, “Wednesday.” Additionally, Christopher Landon, known for “Happy Death Day,” exited the project, referring to it as “a dream job that turned into a nightmare.” Thankfully, Williamson has stepped in to guide the film’s direction.

Production faced further hurdles due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, but with Paramount Pictures distributing and Spyglass Media producing, hopes are high for this new chapter. Following a successful reboot with 2022’s “Scream” and last year’s “Scream VI,” both helmed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, fans are eager to see where the story goes next.

Returning to write the script is Guy Busick, a key player in the franchise’s recent resurgence, while Project X Entertainment’s James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein are on board as producers, with Radio Silence serving as executive producers.

Get ready, horror fans—the Ghostface saga continues!
