Keke Palmer and SZA’s eagerly awaited buddy comedy will hit theaters on January 24, 2025. The film, produced by Issa Rae’s Hoorae and directed by Lawrence Lamont, is written by Syreeta Singleton. While the title and plot details remain under wraps, the supporting cast features notable names such as Lil Rel Howery, Janelle James, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Maude Apatow, Katt Williams, Joshua Neal, Aziza Scott, Patrick Cage, and Amin Joseph, with Dewayne Perkins, Gabrielle Dennis, and DomiNque Perry recently joining the lineup.

Originating from the CoCre lab at Sony Pictures, this project is part of a previous collaboration aimed at nurturing emerging, diverse screenwriters. Singleton and Lamont both have ties to Rae’s series “Rap Sh!t,” where Singleton was the showrunner and Lamont directed multiple episodes. Palmer and SZA’s chemistry was first showcased during their collaboration on “Saturday Night Live” in December 2022.

The film will be produced by Rae and Sara Diya Rastogi of Hoorae, Deniese Davis of ColorCreative, and Charles D. King, James Lopez, and Poppy Hanks of Macro Film Studios, with Singleton co-producing. In addition to her role in front of the camera, Palmer will also serve as an executive producer through her Big Boss banner, alongside Sharon Palmer. Macro Film Studios is co-financing the film, marking an exciting entry into SZA’s acting career.
