Kelsea Ballerini has unveiled her latest heartache single, “Two Things,” released on Friday as part of her upcoming album, Patterns, set to drop on October 25.

In the poignant chorus, Ballerini expresses the duality of love and pain, singing: “Two things can be true/I’ll love and hate you/I’ll be your best and your worst day/I’ll be your blessing and curse, babe.” The day before the release, she teased the track with a video snippet that juxtaposes serene countryside views with an urban skyline, hinting at the lyric, “I love New York City, but I can’t stay at the Carlyle anymore,” featuring her outside the iconic hotel.

Previously, Ballerini released the album’s second single, “Sorry Mom,” in August, reflecting on significant life moments like pursuing dreams and navigating personal milestones. This follows her June collaboration with Noah Kahan, “Cowboys Cry Too,” which will also be included in Patterns.

This upcoming project marks Ballerini’s first full-length album since 2022’s Subject to Change and follows her 2023 EP, Rolling Up the Welcome Mat, which received a Best Country Album nomination at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

To celebrate the album’s release, Ballerini will perform at Madison Square Garden on October 29. She expressed her excitement, stating, “The whole time I was making this album, I was visualizing ways to bring it to life for our live show. I couldn’t wait more than five days after its release to do it.”

Discussing Patterns, Ballerini shared with The Associated Press that listeners may expect a cheerful, romantic album, but she clarified, “That’s not the case. And I’m really proud of that. It would have been easy to just collect the beautiful parts of my life, but that’s not the fullness of my experience.”
