Netflix has unveiled a behind-the-scenes first look at Season 2 of The Sandman, part of the streamer’s Geeked Week promotional campaign. This season will adapt the “Season of Mists” storyline from Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed DC graphic novel series. In this arc, Lucifer (Gwendoline Christie) abdicates control of Hell, presenting Morpheus, also known as Dream (Tom Sturridge), with the key to its gates. This sets off a scramble among immortals vying for the key.
The featurette highlights the arrival of Norse gods Thor (Laurence O’Fuarain), Loki (Freddie Fox), and Odin (Clive Russell), who join Dream for a “banquet” intended for visiting deities and fairies. Additionally, viewers will be introduced to Dream’s siblings: Destiny (Adrian Lester), Delirium (Esmé Creed-Miles), and the Prodigal (Barry Sloane), who come together for a “family dinner” with other members of the Endless, including Death (Kirby), Desire (Mason Alexander Park), and Despair (Donna Preston).
New cast members for Season 2 include Ruairi O’Connor as Dream’s son Orpheus, Ann Skelly as Nuala, Douglas Booth as Cluracan, Jack Gleeson as Puck, Indya Moore as Wanda, and Steve Coogan lending his voice to Barnabas the dog.
While Sturridge, Kirby, executive producer Allan Heinberg, and director Jamie Childs are featured in interviews, Neil Gaiman, who has faced sexual assault allegations—denied by him—was neither mentioned nor seen in the featurette. Production on two other Gaiman adaptations, the final season of Good Omens on Prime Video and Disney’s Graveyard Book feature film, has been paused due to the controversy.
The Sandman Season 2, produced by Warner Bros. TV, is set to premiere in 2025.
