Shailene Woodley, Zachary Quinto, and Barbie Ferreira are set to headline the Broadway production of “Cult of Love,” a play by Leslye Headland, known for her work on “Star Wars: The Acolyte” and “Russian Doll.” Described as an “equally heartwarming and heartbreaking” tale, the story unfolds during the holiday season, focusing on the Dahls, a family of four adult siblings who return to their childhood home with their partners. Amidst festive traditions like singing carols, old conflicts resurface, leading to a tumultuous gathering that questions whether their love can withstand the challenges they face.
Previews for “Cult of Love” will begin on November 20 at the Helen Hayes Theater, with opening night scheduled for December 12. This production marks the Broadway debut of Headland, Woodley, and Ferreira. Woodley is recognized for her roles in “The Fault in Our Stars” and “Big Little Lies,” while Ferreira gained fame from “Euphoria” and films like “Nope.” Quinto, known for playing Spock in the “Star Trek” reboot, has an established Broadway presence.
Joining the main cast are Molly Bernard, Roberta Colindrez, Rebecca Henderson, Christopher Lowell, and Christopher Sears, with additional casting announcements forthcoming. The play originally premiered at IAMA Theater Company in January 2018 and features a creative team that includes scenic designer John Lee Beatty, costume designer Sophia Choi, lighting designer Heather Gilbert, sound designer Darron L West, and music supervisor Jacinth Greywoode. The casting team includes Jim Carnahan and Liz Fraser.
