“The Bear” has set a new benchmark in comedy at the Emmys. The FX series achieved a record-breaking 11 Primetime Emmy Awards during the 76th Emmys, surpassing its previous record of 10 awards last year.
Key victories included Jeremy Allen White for Lead Comedy Actor (Carmy), Ebon Moss-Bachrach for Supporting Comedy Actor (Richard “Richie” Jerimovich), Liza Colón-Zayas for Supporting Comedy Actress (Tina), and Christopher Storer and Ramy Youssef for Directing.
Prior to the main ceremony, “The Bear” Season 2 had already secured seven Creative Arts Emmys. Notable wins included Jamie Lee Curtis (Guest Comedy Actress) and Jon Bernthal (Guest Comedy Actor) for the episode “Fishes,” and Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series.
Other Creative Arts wins included Picture Editing for a Single-Camera Comedy (“Fishes”), Sound Mixing and Animation for “Forks,” and Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series, also for “Forks.”
This year, “The Bear” made history with a total of 23 nominations, surpassing NBC’s “30 Rock” record of 22 nominations. Last year’s Emmys saw “The Bear” win Best Comedy Series, Best Supporting Actress (Ayo Edebiri), Best Supporting Actor (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), Best Actor (Jeremy Allen White), and awards for Best Writing and Directing.
Created by Christopher Storer, the series follows Carmy (White), an acclaimed chef who returns to manage his late brother’s sandwich shop in Chicago, transforming it into a high-end restaurant with Sydney (Edebiri).
