Production Begins on Season 2 of Prime Video’s ‘Deadloch’; Jack Neo Prepares New Comedy Film; Akon Announces Southeast Asia Tour

Filming has commenced in Darwin, Queensland, for the second season of Prime Video’s Australian comedy detective series “Deadloch.” The production will later move to Brisbane. The new season will see the return of Kate Box and Madeleine Sami as detectives Dulcie Collins and Eddie Redcliffe, and will feature new cast members including Steve Bisley, Shari Sebbens, Jean Tong, and others making their acting debuts.

“Deadloch” is created and written by Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan, who also serve as executive producers with Kevin Whyte and Tanya Phegan from Guesswork Television. The series is produced by Guesswork Television, OK Great Productions, and Amazon MGM Studios, with additional support from Screen Territory and Screen Queensland’s production attraction strategy.

In other news, Singapore’s renowned filmmaker Jack Neo is set to start production on his new comedy film “AI Ping Cai Hui Ying,” which explores themes of AI and everyday life. Scheduled to shoot next month, Neo aims to release the film during the Chinese New Year holidays in late January 2025. The film has a budget of S$2.5 million ($1.92 million), and Neo is currently seeking investors and distributors.

Additionally, international music star Akon will bring his “Akon The Superfan Tour Live” to Malaysia on November 19 at Kuala Lumpur’s Mega Star Arena, and to Singapore’s Arena @Expo the following day. The tour is organized by Jeeharris Entertainment, founded by Malaysian singer and actor Harris Baba.
