Adrianna Mitchell has joined the cast of the upcoming Paramount+ comedy series “Crutch,” Variety has learned exclusively.
Mitchell, known for her role as Tanosse on FX’s “Snowfall,” will star alongside Jermaine Fowler in the show, which was initially announced in May with Tracy Morgan in the lead role. The series is set in the same universe as the CBS comedy “The Neighborhood” and will begin production in New York this month.
The series follows Francois ‘Frank’ Crutchfield (Morgan), a charismatic Harlem shop owner known as ‘Crutch,’ whose life is turned upside down when his highbrow son (Fowler) and free-spirited daughter (Mitchell) move back into the family home. Mitchell will portray Jamilah, a naturalista with a dry wit and a complicated past. Jamilah, who has recently relocated from the suburbs of Minneapolis with her two children, finds herself at her father’s doorstep as her former life unravels.
Mitchell’s recent credits include roles in “Evil,” “The Good Fight,” “Little America,” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” and she made her Broadway debut in the Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Fat Ham.”
“Crutch” is developed by Owen Smith, who will serve as executive producer and showrunner. Cedric the Entertainer, Eric C. Rhone, Aaron Kaplan, and Wendi Trilling are also executive producers. CBS Studios is producing, with Paramount Global Content Distribution handling distribution.
