Amazon Prime Video is expanding its “Reacher” universe with a new spinoff series, Variety has confirmed. The upcoming show, currently in development, will center on Frances Neagley, portrayed by Maria Sten in the main series. Nick Santora, who developed and serves as executive producer and showrunner of “Reacher,” is co-writing the spinoff with Nicholas Wooton.
Details on the spinoff’s plot are still under wraps, but the focus on Neagley suggests a deep dive into her character. This move follows the substantial success of the Alan Ritchson-led “Reacher” series, which was renewed for a third season before the second season had even premiered. The second season of “Reacher” was a major hit, becoming the number one title on Prime Video worldwide during its debut weekend and saw its global audience grow by 50% in the first three days post-premiere.
The third season of “Reacher” will adapt Lee Child’s novel “Persuader,” the seventh installment in the Jack Reacher series. Sten will return for Season 3, joined by new cast members including Anthony Michael Hall, Sonya Cassidy, Johnny Berchtold, Brian Tee, Roberto Montesinos, and Daniel David Stewart. Lee Child, along with Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, Mick Betancourt, and others, will continue to serve as executive producers. The series is produced by Amazon Studios, Skydance Television, and CBS Studios, with Ritchson also taking on an executive producer role for the upcoming season.
