Jennifer Hudson, the celebrated actor, singer, and television personality, has signed a new record deal with Interscope Records, the label announced on Wednesday.
Steve Berman, Vice Chairman of the Interscope Capitol Label Group, praised Hudson’s diverse contributions to entertainment, stating, “Jennifer has made significant impacts across music, film, and television with her impressive body of work. We are excited for her to embark on the next chapter of her career with Interscope.”
Hudson, renowned for her achievements in film, music, and television, is the youngest female to achieve EGOT status. Her accolades include a Grammy Award for Best R&B Album for her 2008 self-titled debut and an Oscar for her portrayal of “Effie” in the 2007 film “Dreamgirls.” In 2022, she also earned a Tony Award as a co-producer on “A Strange Loop,” which won Best Musical.
Her new deal with Interscope adds her to a star-studded roster that includes Olivia Rodrigo, Blackpink, Dr. Dre, Elton John, Lady Gaga, and Lana Del Rey, among others. While specific details about her forthcoming music projects have not been disclosed, fans can expect new releases in the future.
In addition to her music career, Hudson is the host of “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” a nationally syndicated talk show that debuted in 2022 and has received ten Daytime Emmy Award nominations. The show is set to return for its third season on September 16.
Hudson made her Broadway debut in 2015 as Shug Avery in the Tony Award-winning production of “The Color Purple,” which also earned her a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. She was also featured as the lead in the 2021 Aretha Franklin biopic “Respect,” which she executive produced.
