Netflix has unveiled plans for Mantis, a new Korean action film set in the world of its 2023 hit Kill Boksoon. The spinoff will feature Yim Si-wan (Unlocked, Misaeng: Incomplete Life), Park Gyu-young (Sweet Home, It’s Okay to Not Be Okay), and Jo Woo-jin (Narco-Saints, Alienoid).
While Kill Boksoon followed Gil Bok-soon, a contract killer balancing her dual life as a mother and an assassin, Mantis shifts the focus to other assassins within the same universe. The film will center on Yim Si-wan’s character Han-ul, also known as “Mantis,” a top assassin returning to the industry for new opportunities after a period of absence. His return brings him into contact with old friend and fellow trainee Jae-yi (Park Gyu-young) and Dok-go (Jo Woo-jin), a retired legendary killer who now runs MK Ent.
’Mantis’ marks the directorial debut of Lee Tae-sung, who co-wrote the screenplay with Kill Boksoon’s director Byun Sung-hyun. The film is produced by SEE AT Film Co., LTD, known for Kill Boksoon, Love and Leashes, and Kingmaker.
