Drake has surprised fans by releasing three new tracks just before the weekend: “Circadian Rhythm,” “SOD,” and “No Face,” the latter featuring Playboi Carti. These songs were unveiled via Drake’s Instagram burner account, @plottttwistttttt.
The track “SOD,” previously known as “Supersoak,” was first introduced by streamer Kai Cenat last month. It originally featured a verse from Lil Yachty, but Yachty has been removed from the final version. This change follows a controversy surrounding a sample clearance issue with Mr. HotSpot, which Yachty’s religious beliefs prevented him from approving unless the song was edited. Fans noted that Yachty had unfollowed Drake on Instagram recently, leading to speculation about potential tensions between the two.
In addition to “SOD,” “Circadian Rhythm” has drawn attention for its potential connection to Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “6:16 in LA.” Some fans believe that Drake’s new song references a line from Lamar’s track, where he raps, “Often, I know this type of power is gon’ cost / But I live in circadian rhythms of a shooting star.”
The track “No Face” sees Drake addressing his critics, with lyrics like, “I’m just so happy that n—s who envied and held that shit in got to finally show it / I’m over the moon, yeah, we’ll see you boys soon.”
These new releases come shortly after Drake shared a massive folder on 100gigs.org, which included unreleased music, behind-the-scenes footage, tour set designs, and studio clips. Among the content were three additional songs: “It’s Up” featuring Young Thug and 21 Savage, “Blue Green Red,” and “Housekeeping Knows” featuring Latto. These tracks were first previewed on his IG burner account before their official release on streaming platforms.
