Director Tommy Wirkola, known for “Violent Night,” is gearing up for his next project, a shark thriller titled “Beneath the Storm.” The film will hit theaters on August 1, 2025, under Columbia Pictures.
The movie, written and directed by Wirkola, features a star-studded cast including Phoebe Dynevor (“Bridgerton”), Whitney Peak (“Gossip Girl,” “Hocus Pocus 2”), and Djimon Hounsou (“Rebel Moon,” “A Quiet Place: Day One”). The film is produced by Adam McKay and Kevin Messick. Details about the plot are currently being kept secret.
Wirkola, who has previously directed “Dead Snow,” “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters,” and “What Happened to Monday,” is venturing into the shark thriller genre with this latest project.
Phoebe Dynevor, acclaimed for her role as Daphne Bridgerton in Netflix’s “Bridgerton,” has appeared in “The Colour Room,” “Bank of Dave,” and “Fair Play.” She has been nominated for a BAFTA Rising Star Award and will next be seen in Neil Burger’s “Inheritance” and the Diane Lane drama “Anniversary.”
Whitney Peak, known for her role in Max’s reboot of “Gossip Girl” and Disney+’s “Hocus Pocus 2,” will appear next in “Trap House” alongside Dave Bautista and Sophia Lillis.
Djimon Hounsou, who recently starred in “A Quiet Place: Day One” and “Rebel Moon,” is a two-time Oscar nominee for his roles in “In America” and “Blood Diamond.” He will next be seen in the survival thriller “Last Breath” with Simu Liu and Woody Harrelson.
