BTS member Suga, known offstage as Min Yoongi, has publicly apologized for a drunk driving incident that occurred while he was serving in the South Korean military. In a heartfelt note posted on Weverse early Wednesday morning, Suga addressed his fans, expressing regret for his actions and emphasizing his commitment to avoiding such mistakes in the future.
According to Suga’s explanation, the incident took place late at night when he was returning home on his electric kickboard after consuming alcohol. The rapper described how he lost control while parking the scooter near his residence, resulting in a fall. Police officers nearby conducted a sobriety test, leading to a ticket and the revocation of his scooter license. Fortunately, there were no injuries or damage to property, and Suga was escorted home by the police.
In response to the incident, BigHit Music, BTS’s management agency, issued a formal apology. The agency detailed that Suga was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, and while he did not sustain injuries, the event led to his scooter license being revoked. BigHit Music also confirmed that they are taking internal disciplinary action in light of the situation.
The incident has drawn attention to the challenges faced by celebrities balancing their public responsibilities with personal conduct, especially under the scrutiny of military service. Suga’s apology reflects a growing emphasis on accountability among public figures and underscores the importance of responsible behavior.
