During the intimate setting, Carpenter performed the new track in a stripped-down style, accompanied by minimal instrumentation. She introduced the song by saying, “This one’s cute and I just wanted to sing it for you today.” She continued, “Super random of me, so it’s called ‘Slim Pickins’ and I hope you like it.”
The evening also saw Carpenter performing her popular hits “Espresso” and “Please Please Please.” Dressed in a mid-length blue dress with a heart cutout, she completed her look with nude heels and left her hair loose, adding a touch of elegance to the performance.
In a previous interview with Rolling Stone, Carpenter expressed her delight at the viral success of “Espresso” and shared that its inspiration came from a trip to Crêperie, France. “I decided to put that burden on other people,” she quipped, reflecting her characteristic humor that fans adore.
The singer’s sixth studio album, Short N’ Sweet, is set for release on August 23, followed by the announcement of her tour dates.
Amid the excitement, there’s speculation about her personal life. Recent rumors suggest that her rumored romance with actor Barry Keoghan may have ended. Carpenter fueled the speculation with a cryptic TikTok post that read, “Me saying goodbye to him bc I wasn’t his #1 streamed artist,” set to the background of her song “Please Please Please.” Neither Carpenter nor Keoghan have confirmed the status of their relationship.
