Based on important environmental metrics, Brother UK has emerged as a leader in sustainability initiatives, according to the most recent IDC report evaluating print vendors. Brother is positioned prominently for its comprehensive sustainability efforts by the report, which evaluates corporate strategies, operational practices, product sustainability, and governance measures.

Part of the reason Brother has received recognition is its ambitious “Brother Group Environmental Vision 2050,” which includes targets certified by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) that aim to cut emissions by 65% from 2015 levels by 2030. This pledge demonstrates Brother’s proactive strategy for reducing environmental impact in all areas of business operations.

Brother is the first print brand to receive Blue Angel certification for a remanufactured toner cartridge, a testament to their dedication to sustainable product offerings. The company’s sustainability practices span the full lifecycle of its products, from initial design and manufacturing to customer usage, disposal, and recycling.

Recycled toner cartridges can be returned to Brother’s carbon-neutral Recycling Technology Centers, including the one in Ruabon, North Wales. By this program, Brother makes sure that no waste ends up in landfills; of remanufactured toners, 86% are turned into “as new” cartridges, and the remaining 14% are recycled. This process results in 33% less CO2 emissions compared to producing toner cartridges from virgin materials.

In addition to being a sustainable product, Brother actively supports the preservation and restoration of ecosystems. Brother is celebrating 15 years of working with the nonprofit organization Cool Earth to protect rainforests. Together, they have helped communities in the Amazon and New Guinea, protecting 32 million trees on 78,000 hectares of land. These initiatives are essential to reducing the effects of climate change and demonstrate Brother’s care for the environment.

The IDC MarketScape’s assessment highlighted Brother as a strong choice for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) seeking environmentally friendly printing solutions. The report emphasized Brother’s capability to deliver eco-friendly products that help customers reduce their environmental footprint while endorsing Brother as a preferred supplier committed to sustainable practices.

Asserting that sustainability continues to be a top priority for the business, Louise Marshall, Director of ESG and Organizational Development at Brother UK, expressed pride in the recognition. Marshall underlined that Brother’s dedication to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles is strengthened by being recognized as a pioneer in sustainability initiatives and offerings. Customers are given confidence by this recognition, which also demonstrates Brother’s unwavering commitment to promoting a sustainable global society.

Brother UK is a leader in sustainable business practices in the printing industry thanks to its proactive approach to sustainability, which is demonstrated by its strict environmental targets, creative recycling programs, and efforts to conserve ecosystems.
