The American-conceived Irish actress was most recently seen in Wes Anderson’s latest directorial venture, The French Dispatch and will next show up in the homicide mystery movie, See How They Run, alongside Sam Rockwell, which is slated to debut later this year. As for Fingscheidt, The Outrun will stamp her second English-language feature film after last year’s Netflix wrongdoing dramatization, The Unforgivable, which starred Sandra Bullock. There has been no release date announced for the film as of yet. However, the collaboration between Ronan and the directing-writing team of Fingscheidt and Liptrot could end up being a triumphant combination that will undoubtedly entice moviegoers when The Outrun eventually hits the big screen.
Oscar-nominated actress, Saoirse Ronan, has joined the cast of the feature film adaptation of Amy Liptrot’s best-selling journal, The Outrun. Helmed by German director, Nora Fingscheidt and based on 2015’s honor winning journal of the same name by Liptrot, The Outrun revolves around Rona, a lady recently out of recovery who returns to Scotland’s wild Orkney Islands after being away for north of 10 years to the sheep homestead of her youth. She begins to sort out her beloved memories as she sets about on her excursion towards recuperation.
Now, it’s been affirmed that the four-time Academy Award nominee, Ronan, will star as the protagonist Rona in the film adaptation of The Outrun. Fingscheidt will collaborate with Liptrot herself as they share screenwriting duties. Ronan will also take on a job as co-maker alongside the production companies Brock Media, Mogambo, and Germany’s Weydemann Bros. The film was optioned and created by Brock Media’s Sarah Brocklehurst with the assistance of BBC Film and Screen Scotland, who will also co-produce. UK’s Protagonist Pictures will act as executive producers and orchestrate to fund the project.
