Now, it’s been announced that the celebrated pop star is the latest addition to the cast of Sumotherhood, which also includes Danny Sapani, jennifer Saunders, Peter Serafinowicz, Leomie Anderson, London Hughes, and more. They join the previously announced cast of Deacon, Jazzie Zonzolo, Richie Campbell, and British-Congolese humorist Eddie Kadi. The film will be delivered by Deacon’s production organization, Deaconstructed, alongside the recently framed Piece of Pie Productions and Belstone Pictures.
Incredibly famous English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has joined the cast of the forthcoming British action-comedy film Sumotherhood. The project will stamp the return of actor-writer-director and BAFTA Award-victor Adam Deacon, finishing his extended hiatus from the industry after making his directorial debut more than 10 years ago with 2011’s metropolitan comedy Anuvahood. Production on Sumotherhood is set to start in East London this February, with no official release date announced as of yet, though it is said to make a big appearance later this year.
Sheeran has had a couple of minor acting roles in the past, most of which have been cameos. Some of his onscreen credits incorporate the famous fantasy series Game of Thrones, 2019’s musical comedy Yesterday, and, most recently, Netflix’s action-comedy film Red Notice. The celebrated singer of pop songs such as “Shape of You” and “I See Fire” has steadily been adding to his developing filmography and will be looking to continue in the footsteps of House of Gucci’s Lady Gaga and Don’t Look Up’s Ariana Grande, who have caused ripple effects in Hollywood after seamless transitions from the universe of music. Sheeran’s part in Sumotherhood is hazy at the moment, and keeping in mind that the film might not match the scale of the aforementioned titles, his past appearances suggest that he could take advantage of this opportunity.
