Sophie Dillman has recalled how her first date with her co-star and real-life boyfriend Patrick O’Connor was not as romantic as one would hope. The Home and Away star, 29, had been rushed to hospital after her endometriosis flared up painfully.
She went on to say despite the fact Patrick, 29, ‘went white’, he did everything he could to support her through the experience. The soap star panicked, unsure of what to do, but insisted he would try to help his love anyway. The on- and off-screen couple play Dean Thompson and Ziggy Astoni on Home and Away.

‘I said, “I have to sit down, right now.” And [Patrick] was like, “Sophie, we’re on King Street, you can’t sit down!”‘ she explained. ‘So I was sitting in a laneway, and I rang my mum and I was like, “Mum, I’ve gotta go to hospital, it’s so bad, I don’t have enough painkillers.”
Sophie revealed they first met in university before landing their roles on Home and Away and becoming romantically involved. She said: ‘It’s actually really great working with Paddy, we worked together before we got together. So we had a great professional relationship first.
‘I really admire his work ethic and some of his action choices, and how he looks at his character and storylines. When asked if it makes their character’s kissing scenes a little easier, she laughed and said the cameras and the directions would never allow it to be normal. The pair recently documented their fun and adventurous holiday in Europe.
They visited Greece and posted several sun-soaked snaps to Instagram during their jaunt on the island of Mykonos.
