Lady Gaga is back in the spotlight with the announcement of her new single “Disease,” set to release on October 25. This comes hot on the heels of her surprise album “Harlequin,” which showcases her latest artistic venture.
Although an official statement from Gaga is still pending, Universal Music has activated pre-saves for “Disease” on a pop-up site, directing fans to Spotify and Apple Music. Fans began speculating about the title after they noticed an intriguing pattern: the capitalization of some song titles on streaming platforms switched, and when rearranged, the first letters of seven songs spelled out “Disease.” To tease her fans further, Gaga recently curated a playlist on Spotify that cleverly arranged the songs to spell out “Gaga Disease.”
Earlier in October, Gaga hinted at an upcoming release during her “Joker: Folie à Deux” press run, which also noted the release of her first single from her seventh studio album.
Despite her recent film, “Joker: Folie à Deux,” facing critical backlash and underperforming at the box office—potentially losing $150 to $200 million—Gaga’s musical journey continues. Just before the film’s release, she launched “Harlequin,” an album inspired by her character, featuring classic American Songbook favorites and a couple of original tracks. Although it debuted lower than expected on the Billboard 200 at No. 20, the album marked a significant moment in her artistic evolution.
On a brighter note, Gaga’s recent collaboration with Bruno Mars, “Die With a Smile,” has been a hit, debuting at No. 3 on the Hot 100 and racking up hundreds of millions of streams, reminding fans of her undeniable pop prowess.
