WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new feature to give users greater control over Meta AI’s voice interactions. According to a report by WABetainfo, this upcoming feature will enable real-time voice conversations with the AI chatbot and offer additional functionalities to manage its voice settings.
The new Meta AI voice chat mode is currently under development and has been observed in the WhatsApp beta for iOS version 24.16.10.70. Users will soon have the ability to select from a set of default voice options for the Meta AI to respond to their queries.
Importantly, the voice chat mode will not be activated by default. Users can stop the voice interaction at any time and will be alerted via a privacy indicator on iOS, which signals when the microphone is active.
New Features for Enhanced Interaction
In addition to voice management, WhatsApp plans to introduce features that will allow users to manage Meta AI’s voice output. This will include options to enable captions and transcripts, converting speech to text during interactions with the AI chatbot.
The update will offer two modes for configuring Meta AI’s voice responses: Brief and Full. The Full mode will provide detailed answers for complex queries or when comprehensive information is needed, while the Brief mode will deliver concise and straightforward responses, catering to users who prefer shorter exchanges.
This new feature aims to enhance user experience by providing more control and flexibility in interacting with Meta AI on WhatsApp.
