Jenni Farley, widely recognized as JWoww from Jersey Shore, is stepping into the director’s chair with her debut horror film, Devon. Set to be released on November 12 via Screambox, the film marks a significant milestone for the reality TV star, who has long harbored a passion for the horror genre.
JWoww, 36, is not just directing Devon but also took on the roles of writer and producer, funding the project entirely out of her own pocket. She assembled a small crew of seven to bring her vision to life, demonstrating her commitment to making this film a reality. In an Instagram post, she reflected on her journey, noting, “I still remember filming at an abandoned asylum on #SnookiandJwoww and telling myself, ‘One day, I’m going to make a movie here.’ Fast forward to the pandemic, and I decided it was time to turn that dream into reality.”
The film’s plot revolves around a mysterious disappearance and the unsettling atmosphere of an abandoned asylum. According to Variety, the story follows a couple searching for their missing daughter. After the asylum where she vanished from is condemned, a cryptic website lures five individuals to investigate the abandoned location. Unbeknownst to them, their exploration will lead to a horrifying and deadly encounter.
During a recent appearance on the “Viall Files” podcast, JWoww described the project as “everything and more than I wanted,” despite acknowledging its low budget and the challenges she faced. She expressed satisfaction with the film’s outcome, saying, “I could’ve failed… I didn’t ask for anyone’s help… I literally just cut the checks myself, and I said, if this never sees the light of day, I’m okay with it, but I just need to know that I like it and I want to do this.”
JWoww’s transition from reality TV to filmmaking underscores her evolving career and dedication to her creative ambitions. Fans of Jersey Shore and horror enthusiasts alike are eagerly awaiting the release of Devon to see how JWoww’s unique vision translates to the big screen.
