Alliance Pharma said it would appeal against the UK government’s order.
The Competition and Markets Authority of Britain has imposed a fine of Rs 356 crore on various companies, including Alliance Pharma and Cinven, for selling tablets given to patients for headache, vomiting and dizziness seven times more expensive. There are allegations that these companies entered into agreements, giving money to competitors for not bringing their products in the market. Because of this, the UK government agency National Health Service had to spend up to 700 percent more for related tablets between 2013 and 2017. Alliance Pharma said it would appeal against the order.
