The deceased family is a resident of Kalol village in Gujarat, died of minus 35 degree cold, 7 Indians detained
Four unidentified bodies recovered at the US-Canada border have been identified. All of them have been identified as Indians. These four are said to be residents of Dingucha village of Kalol tehsil of Gandhinagar district. According to the information received, this deceased family was trying to enter America illegally with the help of smugglers, but all died in the freezing cold of -35 degrees. These include the name of 39-year-old Jagdish Patel, 37-year-old wife Vaishali Patel (age 37), daughter Vihangi Patel (age 11) and son Dharmik Patel (age 3). Let us tell you that this family had left 15 days before the death to go to Canada from America.
Jagdishbhai’s father Baldevbhai Patel, who lives in Dingucha village, told that the son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren had shifted from Dingucha village to the bungalow in Kalol about two months ago. Baldev got the bungalow located in Green City renovated two months ago. Meanwhile, about 15 days ago, Baldev along with the family reached Canada through an agent. Jagdishbhai told that he also did not know that he was going to America from Canada and who had gone with him.
According to American officials, many gangs
of human smugglers who cross the border with money from Indians are active and through these gangs the deceased family also had to cross the border to America. In this entire incident, he had to reach the border by walking for 10 to 12 hours. The minimum temperature in the Emerson area of the US-Canada border is minus 22 degrees Celsius. The family could not bear this extreme cold and he died.
Such was the disclosure of the matter,
when the police officers investigated those who tried to enter the US illegally, items like diapers and food from a small child were recovered from them. The suspects grew as the authorities did not have any young children. The Border Police contacted the Canadian authorities and informed about this, which exposed the whole matter. During the investigation, four bodies including a newborn were recovered on the border of both the countries.
It is being told that the deceased family was waiting for the help of some gang involved in human trafficking. A 47-year-old man named Steve Shand has been arrested in this case. As soon as the incident came to light, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar informed the Indian Embassy in Canada and directed them to provide detailed information and monitor the accident at the spot.
