In a significant development for digital payments, PhonePe, one of India’s leading payment platforms, has launched its Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This move comes through a collaboration with Mashreq Bank, enabling PhonePe users to seamlessly make UPI payments at Neopay terminals across the UAE.
The integration allows Indian visitors and residents in the UAE to leverage PhonePe’s familiar UPI infrastructure for quick and secure payments. Users can initiate transactions by scanning QR codes at Neopay terminals, providing a convenient method for retail payments.
Moreover, PhonePe has introduced features tailored for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), including the option to link NRI bank accounts to PhonePe for easier fund transfers and digital transactions. This enhancement underscores PhonePe’s commitment to catering to the needs of the Indian diaspora, facilitating financial interactions across borders.
The collaboration with Mashreq Bank also extends to providing inward remittance services, enabling seamless transfers of funds into UAE-based accounts via UPI. This initiative not only simplifies international transactions but also promotes digital financial inclusion among Indian expatriates in the UAE.
