The Denver Broncos pulled off a dramatic 41-32 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football in Week 13 of the 2024 NFL season, improving their record to 8-5. The thrilling contest featured explosive plays, turnovers, and a dramatic finish that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.
A Back-and-Forth First Half
The game started with a shaky offensive series for both teams. After the Broncos punted on their opening drive, the Browns had an early chance to take control but missed a 47-yard field goal attempt by kicker Dustin Hopkins on their first possession.
The Broncos quickly capitalized. Quarterback Nix orchestrated a 12-play, 63-yard drive that culminated in a two-yard touchdown run by running back Javonte Williams, giving Denver an early 7-0 lead. However, Cleveland responded quickly, attacking Denver’s defense after cornerback Riley Moss was sidelined with a knee injury. Browns quarterback Jameis Winston connected with tight end David Njoku for an eight-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 7-7 by the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the momentum swung when Browns cornerback Denzel Ward tipped a pass from Nix that was intercepted by Greg Newsome. Cleveland took advantage of the turnover with a 45-yard field goal from Hopkins to take a 10-7 lead.
Denver wasn’t fazed. The Broncos methodically marched down the field on a 67-yard, six-play drive that ended with a one-yard touchdown run by fullback Michael Burton to put Denver back on top 14-10. But the game’s pivotal moment came moments later when Broncos pass rusher Nik Bonitto intercepted Winston and raced 71 yards for a pick-six, giving Denver a 21-10 lead.
