Drew Lock was emotional after the Seahawks’ comeback win against the Eagles, as he claimed that ‘amazing won’t do it justice’ despite throwing for a last-second, go-ahead touchdown. The 27-year-old Seahawks backup quarterback was called into action in what was only his second straight start in two seasons in Seattle after being traded away from the Denver Broncos last year to make way for Russell Wilson.

Against Philly, Lock completed 22 of 33 passes for 208 yards and one touchdown, including a 29-yard pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the end zone with just 28 seconds remaining to give the Seahawks a dramatic 20-17 victory over the visiting team. Seattle’s Julian Love made two interceptions in the fourth quarter, including the game-clincher with six seconds left. The Seahawks never led until Lock’s TD throw to Smith-Njigba.

Starting with 1:52 left, Lock drove the Seahawks 92 yards on 10 plays, hitting DK Metcalf for 34 yards along the way. Smith-Njigba later beat Eagles cornerback James Bradberry to make the scoring catch and help Seattle (7-7) halt a four-game losing streak.

‘It takes a special group to rally around a guy that comes into his second game of the year right? Used to the same thing all year long. Same cadence, same spin on the ball, everything. For a team like that, not just the offense, the defense [too], to rally around me tonight… man that was that was amazing.’

Lock, a second round pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, then revealed the moment he knew he was going to start ahead of Geno Smith, who is still nursing a groin injury, ahead of Monday night’s game.  ‘Oh… there’s a long story going into that one,’ said the former Missouri quarterback. When the reporter teased that she could hear some emotion in his voice, Lock said: ‘It’s been a long time. It’s been a long time. I’m just blessed. I’m just blessed and blessed with a great group of guys, a great city, great coaches.. it’s awesome. It’s wow.’

‘But I kept the mentality that I was going to play, regardless of what was going on and how people were looking and what not. I was just thinking you’re gonna go out and play, so be ready to play.  ‘Then I found out when we got here that I was gonna get the nod and then it’s a roll of the dice baby. Let’s go.’ Up next for the Seahawks, an away game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, December 24 (Christmas Eve).
