New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has revealed he congratulated former teammate and Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love on beating the Chicago Bears. Rodgers compiled a 24-5 record against the Bears during his 15 seasons as Packers QB, and after scoring a game-clinching touchdown against them  in 2021 he famously screamed ‘I still own you’ towards their fans.

‘I said congratulations on keeping the ownership in place,’ Rodgers said with a smile while appearing on ‘The Pat McAfee Show.’ ‘That was pretty awesome for him.’ Aside from poking fun at his longtime rival, Rodgers has also begun rehabbing the torn Achilles he suffered only four plays into his Jets debut in Week 1 of Monday Night Football.

The procedure was performed by renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache who also operated on Kobe Bryant’s torn Achilles in 2013 and saw the legendary Laker return to the court in eight months.

Recent reports have stated that he may even be targeting an improbable return in the playoffs after undergoing a relatively new process known as a ‘speed bridge.’ Rodgers also gave an update on his recovery and stated that although the cast has been removed from his left ankle, he still requires a walking boot and cannot walk on this leg yet.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh recently indicated that the team is hoping Rodgers will be able to return to Florham Park and be around the team next week once he regains the ability to walk.

‘Trying to get out of the boot is kind of the next goal so I feel the strength to be able to stand up on my own,’ Rodgers said. ‘Then the boot comes off and then it kind of gets exciting. I think then you feel like you’re not just a big turd laying around, everybody taking care of you. So that’ll be nice.’

Rodgers also seemed to take a step back from his original statements that hinted at a return for the playoffs. ‘I don’t want to get caught into a timeline,’ Rodgers said. ‘I just want to get healthy, honestly, mentally and physically, honestly.

‘I mean, obviously, when this happened, there’s a lot of thoughts about, “That’s it, cash it in, you’re done.” I just don’t feel like I am, so I’m going to put myself in position to be able to play again.’ ‘But I’m going to do everything I can rehab-wise to put myself in a position to be ready to play football again at some point. And that’s the goal.
